College counseling is an investment in your student's higher education journey. Pinpoint College Counseling can be an invaluable resource in reducing stress and providing guidance through an often lengthy and overwhelming process.
Complimentary Introductory Phone Call or Zoom Meeting
This is a 30-minute phone call or Zoom meeting in which the student and their families will get a detailed description of how we would work together throughout the college admissions and selection process.
Following this introductory meeting, Pinpoint College Counseling offers both a Comprehensive Counseling Package and Hourly Services.
The Comprehensive Counseling Package includes but is not limited to:
An in-depth look at the ever-changing world of college admissions – what colleges are looking for, the most critical factors in admissions decisions, and the pieces that make up an application packet.
Financial Aid & Scholarships
With increasing college costs, it is critical to discuss expenses and financial strategies before families embark on the college process. This discussion includes an overview of the college financial aid process and approaches to receive maximum need and merit aid.
A full review of your student's transcripts, test scores, activities, and interests. Pinpoint College Counseling will also offer advice on high school course selection and ACT/SAT test planning and preparation.
Using personality and career assessments, we will discover your student's strengths and interests, and match those with possible college majors and careers that might be a good fit.
We will explore what your student is looking for in a college, and ultimately which colleges will be a good fit. We will get to know your student, and they will get to know themselves through the process.
The end goal is to create a manageable list of colleges that are a fit for your student to apply to academically, socially and financially; schools where they see themselves being happy and prosperous both inside and outside the classroom.
We will help you track the requirements for each application, provide guidance on admissions deadlines, and break the process down into manageable steps. Each student is also given access to a password protected online college planning account.
Your student will create applications and essays that highlight their strengths and accomplishments, express who they are, and convey this positively and authentically.
A complete and current resume helps complete college applications. This service is to assist the student in creating a resume or revising a resume if the student already has one.
This service allows students to practice actual interview questions and receive direct feedback on ways to improve the quality of the response. The goal of this "mock" interview practice is to have the student feel so comfortable with the interview that it enhances his or her chance for admission.
After college offers arrive, we will help you evaluate your options and prepare you for the next step, college.
